Attention: Sarah Herring - Planning Department
I have Parkinson's decease and my speech is not that clear so I am emailing the city of Langford to voice my concerns about the proposed projects to be heard at the public hearing on August 14, 2017.
The following addresses are of concern to me:
- Bylaw 1680 is 767, 769, & 771 Hockley Avenue
- Bylaw 1682 is 2845, 2847, & 2850 Bryan Maur Rd and a portion of 737 Goldstream Avenue
- Bylaw 1710 is 2839 Jacklin Road with 862, 864, 866 Orono Avenue
- Bylaw 1725 is 2741, 2749, 2751, 2753, 2757, 2761 Spencer Road and 996 Preston way
My concern is the increased amount of traffic with the proposed applications.
Bylaw 1680 is proposed 64 units, bylaw 1682 is proposed 93 units, bylaw 1710 is proposed TWO 6 storey apartments with undisclosed number of total units, I would guess at a minimum of 100, and bylaw 1725 is proposed multi family building with undisclosed units. I propose the minimum number of vehicles entering Langford daily to be 364.
I live on Peatt Road and the amount of daily traffic has tripled since I moved here nearly 4 years ago. With the 11 storey building being developed on Claude Road and the current building under construction at the corner of Peatt Road and Hockley Avenue, with a proposed number of vehicles of at least 150 per day, plus the 4 projects noted above with a projected minimum number of vehicles at 364 per day, for a minimum total of 514 new vehicles per day.
How does the city of Langford plan to accommodate all of the new vehicles? It is so NOISY on Peatt Road now that I don't even like to open my windows, not to mention all of the additional EXHAUST FUMES.
I realize that Landford is becoming the most developed community in the west shore, but when will it be too much? Where is the green space or parks to accommodate all of the additional people? Are the developers not supposed to provide green space for their projects?
I am just one individual who takes the time to read the newspaper, after talking to a lot of the residents around the 11 storey building under construction they were not even aware of the height of the new building.
I look forward to your reply that my objections will be logged for the 4 new proposed projects noted above.
Thank you for your time.
