Background

At the May 2, 2016 meeting, Council directed staff to determine an appropriate date and time for the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel (the Panel) to sit to consider the appeal of Clara Kramer with respect to the Spencer Road Interchange Local Area Service parcel tax assessment roll.

Commentary

Since the May 2nd meeting, one of the Panel members has withdrawn and staff have determined that Mr. Frank Hudson is prepared to serve on the Panel. Mr. Hudson has previous experience on review panels and is a member of the Administration and Finance Committee.

All members of the Panel as well as Mrs. Kramer’s representative have been canvassed and June 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. has emerged as the most suitable date for the Panel to sit.

Legal Implications

Section 204(2) of the Community Charter requires that Council appoint members to the Panel and set the time and place for the sitting of the Panel.

Options

That Council:

1. Appoint Mr. Frank Hudson to the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel; and
2. Establish June 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers as the time and place for the sitting of the panel; or
3. Take no action at this time.
