## PANHANDLE LOTS

**DISTRICT OF LANGFORD**
**REVISED**
**POLICY NO.: 3320-00-0o J**

### 1. Panhandle Lots in New Subdivisions

(i) The Approving Officer is to make every effort to promote creation of good subdivisions without panhandle lots, but such lots should be permitted where necessary or desirable in the public interest.

### 2. Panhandle Lots in Existing Areas

(i) The Approving Officer require the developer, at his own cost, to contact each and all owners abutting and owners of property whose outlook will be significantly affected by the proposed subdivision and only permit the subdivision to proceed if 100% of those property owners have no objections to the proposal.

(ii) "Existing Areas" are defined as parcels smaller than 2 ha. (5 acres) that are bordered on more than two sides by existing lots the majority of which are less than 1 he. (2.5 acres) in size.

### 3. Required Lot Size

(i) No lot shall be approved unless a shape as shown in Schedule A attached to this policy can be inserted within the lot boundaries and the area of the lot as defined in the Zoning Bylaw exceeds the minimum required lot size given in that Bylaw by 15%.
