Dear Committee Members,

I am writing to support Langford Tennis Club's proposal asking for new courts, with washrooms, in the District.

It is unfortunate that the Club has to leave Royal Roads in Colwood, but it is crucial that they find a new home on the West Shore. The Club’s activities benefit not just residents in the West Shore but also the Greater Victoria area: organized tournaments, an excellent Junior Development Program, and group play for people of all ages and (dis)abilities. As a member of the Oak Bay Tennis Club, I have arranged social exchange events with LTC over the years, at both clubs’ home sites.

The West Shore has lost most of its courts over the years to development, yet it is the fastest-growing area on lower Vancouver Island. Now is the time to construct new courts there, and Langford would be ideal since the Club will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025!

Thank you for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,

William L. Birney
