### Re
Rezoning Application No. Z21-0048 for the Property at 2750 Leigh Rd., Langford. Letter of Support for increasing industrial land in Greater Victoria

Dear Mayor and Council:

The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce can confirm that Beedie is a member in good standing.
The Chamber supports efforts to add to our region’s industrial lands to service demands for space that can contribute to Greater Victoria achieving its economic capacity. Diversifying and strengthening our region’s employment lands will benefit all our communities by creating opportunities for good jobs that support families. The Chamber currently has 1,314 member organizations representing approximately 41,000 employees across Greater Victoria.

As I am sure you are aware, Greater Victoria has a critically low supply of light industrial space. According to Colliers Victoria Q1 2022 report, our region’s vacancy rate is the lowest in Canada. Without adequate supply, the cost of acquiring and using industrial land is climbing. Add to this the increased demand from international organizations looking for large facilities in Greater Victoria and we face the prospect of losing out on new investment.

I believe this development shows leadership and commitment to building resilience in our regional economy.

Sincerely,

Bruce Williams
CEO, Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce
