## Staff Report — 2022 Council Meeting Schedule

### DATE
Monday, January 11, 2021

### DEPARTMENT
Legislative Services

### SUBJECT
2022 Council Meeting Schedule

### BACKGROUND
In accordance with s. 127 of the Community Charter and Procedure Bylaw No. 1971, Council is required to adopt and advertise a schedule of Council and committee meetings annually, by the end of the previous calendar year (e.g. advertisements for 2022 must be complete by the end of December 2021).

### COMMENTARY
Following a reduction in meetings in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, Langford has returned to a schedule of two Council and two Planning, Zoning and Affordable Housing Committee meetings per month. Other committee meetings were reduced to five per year in 2020, and staff recommend continuing with fewer committee meetings, since not all committees are required to meet monthly.

### FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
None.

### LEGAL IMPLICATIONS
The Community Charter requires municipalities to post their annual meeting schedule and advertise its availability. Meetings that are not on the schedule must be held as special meetings.

### OPTIONS

Option 1
That Council adopt the attached 2022 Council and Committee meeting schedule and direct staff to advertise as required by the Community Charter.

OR Option 2
That Council provide staff with direction regarding the Council and Committee meeting schedule and direct staff to advertise the revised schedule, as required by the Community Charter.
