RE: Stadium lighting
Dear Mayor and Council:
We appreciate all that you are doing to make our community liveable and active.
We note however that you are considering improved stadium lighting as part of the addition of a telephone tower to the stadium complex.
RE: Stadium lighting — Correspondence content
Please consider that this is a residential neighbourhood and the current stadium lighting combined with the large television advertising screens and neon advertising on the stadium stands contributes to considerable light pollution for the surrounding housing.
We appreciate that you have done your best to direct the lighting downward and focused on the stadium, however, the spill over is considerable, given the height of the light standards.
It is particularly annoying to see the lights and advertising on full blast during times when no events are scheduled. This seems quite wasteful, costly and unnecessary.
As you endeavour to make the lighting more efficient, please keep in mind the effect upon the neighbourhood and modify and mitigate it accordingly.
We appreciate your considering this request and trust as always that you have the communityâ?Ts interest at heart .
