Pre Award of Florence Lake Road Improvement Road DCC Project

### Background

Source pages: 35–36

## Background

The City will be tendering the Florence Lake Road Improvement Road DCC Project in the next few weeks. We anticipate closing the bid in mid to late June.

The purpose of this report is to obtain Council pre approval to award this construction project.

### Commentary

## Commentary

The City retained On Point Project Engineers to undertake the detailed design and tender of the Florence Lake Road Improvement Project.

The Florence Lake Road Improvement project will include:

- Construction of a 3m paved multi use trail along the south side of Florence Lake Road (the lake side). There will be minimum disturbance to existing vegetation and just one tree will require removal to accommodate the trail
- Reconstruction of over 800 m of the road. Florence Lake Road was inherited by the City at the time of incorporation. In many areas the road base is inadequate and/or the road is failing. This improvement will include constructing the proper road base where it is needed and recontouring the road for drainage as necessary

This project was originally slated to tender in the Fall of 2020, for construction in the Spring of 2021. However, with the current COVID-19 situation, tendering and awarding this project sooner than expected will aid in continuing the positive economic development in Langford.

### Financial Implications
