## Installation of 4-Way Stop - Alouette and Langford Lake Road

### Date
January 28, 2020

### Department
Engineering

### Subject
Installation of 4-Way Stop Alouette and Langford Lake Road

### Background
The intersection of Alouette Drive/Freshwater Crescent and Langford Lake Road is currently a 2-Way stop controlled location.

The purpose of this report is to seek approval to reconfigure this intersection as a 4-Way stop.

### Commentary
Alouette Drive connects Glen Lake Road indirectly to Langford Parkway and the West Shore Parkway. Residents have voiced concerns in the past with the perception of speeding in this area. In addition, with the opening of the Leigh Road connector in 2019 there has been a perceived increase in traffic in the area.

Staff are suggesting that a 4-Way stop be created at this intersection to provide additional traffic control in the area.

### Legal Implication
None noted.

### Financial Implications
The cost to install two new “Stop” signs and paint two new stop bars on Langford Lake Road is estimated at less than $4,000.

### Options
That the Transportation and Public Works Committee recommend that Council:

1. Direct staff to install two additional “stop” signs and stop bars on Langford Lake Road at the intersection of Alouette Drive/Freshwater Crescent at a cost of approximately $4,000 and fund this from the Small Road Improvement budget;

OR

2. Do nothing at this time with respect to the configuration of the intersection of Langford Lake Road with Alouette Drive and Freshwater Crescent
