Background
At the regular meeting of Council on Monday, July 16th, 2018, Council gave first reading to Bylaw No. 1797 and resolved to waive the requirement for a public hearing with respect to Bylaw No. 1797.
The purpose of Bylaw No. 1797 is to change the title of the CD6 and CD6A (Bear Mountain Comprehensive Development) Zones to Resort Community of Bear Mountain 1 and 2 respectively.
Commentary
The copy of Bylaw No. 1797 that was provided to Council on July 16th contained an error in the citation, which read “This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as ‘Langford Zoning Bylaw, Amendment No. 543, (Revision Bylaw No. 1 – Bear Mountain Zones), 2018”. The term “Revision Bylaw No. 1”, should not have been included in this citation, and the wording in Bylaw No. 1797 has been changed to read: “This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as ‘Langford Zoning Bylaw, Amendment No. 543, (Bear Mountain Zones), 2018”.
Council may wish to correct this errata with an amendment of the bylaw at first reading.
Financial Implications
None.
Legal Implications
None. Council may amend a bylaw at first reading before giving the same bylaw second and third reading.
Options
That Council:
- Amend Bylaw No. 1797 at first reading, and give Bylaw No. 1797 second and third reading;
OR
