Subject:
2018 Municipal Election Chief and Deputy Chief Election Officer Appointments
Background / Comments
As Council is aware, a municipal election will be held on Saturday, October 20th. Prior to the election, Council is required to appoint a Chief election Officer and a Deputy Chief Election Officer(s) to oversee the municipal election. These appointments are responsible to ensuring that the election is run in a fair and open manner, and that all legislative requirements of the election are met.
For this election, Council has appointed Mr. Tom Moore of Tom Moore and Associates as Chief Election Officer. Council has also appointed Kerry Fedosenko, associate of Tom Moore and Associates, Director of Corporate Services Braden Hutchins and Manager of Legislative Services Stacie Barclay as Deputy Chief Election Officers for this election.
However, as Stacie Barclay has recently left the City, it is now recommended that her appointment be rescinded, and that Legislative Coordinator Christina Bell be appointed as Deputy Chief Election Officer in her place.
Options:
- That Council rescind the appointment of Manager of Legislative Services Stacie Barclay from the Deputy Chief Election Officer role for the 2018 Municipal Elections, and in her place appoint Legislative Coordinator Christina Bell as a Deputy Chief Elections Officer.
Respectfully submitted,
