### Department:
Engineering

### Subject:
Road Closure Bylaw No. 1791 Land Exchange Anders Road

### Background
As part of the rezoning of 2668 Sooke Road (Z17-0050) and the adjacent lands at 2706 Sooke Road (also Z17-0050) the City is requiring dedication of land on Sooke Road for the ultimate widening of that road. The City is also requiring that the proponent dedicate additional land for the re-alignment of Glen Lake Road to meet up with the existing signal light on Sooke Road at Happy Valley Road.

The purpose of this report is to present a land exchange option to Council in relation to the Glen Lake Road dedication.

### Commentary
Anders Road, located along the easterly boundary of the 2668 Sooke Road property is very wide, nearly 30m wide at the intersection with Sooke Road. Since Anders is a local road, it does not need to be this wide at the intersection of Sooke Road. The developer is proposing to exchange the portion of required land for the Glen Lake Road realignment (estimated at 600m2) with a 388m2 portion of Anders Road to be closed. In addition to the Glen Lake Road realignment, there is an estimated 205m2 of land to be dedicated by 2668 Sooke Road for the Sooke Road future widening.

A road closure bylaw has been prepared for the closure of the 388m2 portion of Anders Road.

### Financial Implications
The area of land to be dedicated for the future Glen Lake Road realignment as well as land along the frontage of the 2668 Sooke Road property exceed the amount of closed road on Anders that the City would be conceding in this land exchange. The City is therefore the beneficiary in this proposal.

### Legal Implications
None noted.

### Options
That Council:
1. Agrees to close and dispose of 388m2 of Anders road fronting onto 2668 Sooke Road to Glen Lake Inn (2012) Ltd, Inc. No. BC1044631 for $1.00 plus all costs associated with the closure as outlined in this report in exchange for road dedication for the future realignment of Glen Lake Road and widening of Sooke Road;
AND
2. Give Road Closure Bylaw No.  1791 (Anders Road), 2018 first three readings;
OR
3. Do nothing at this time with respect to closure of any portion of Anders Road.
