Staff Report: West Shore Parkway Sewer Lift Station Construction Award

To

Council

Date:

June 18, 2018

Department:

Engineering

Subject:

West Shore Parkway Sewer Lift Station Construction Award

Background

The City has retained KWL Engineering to design the sewer lift station that is part of the West Shore Parkway completion project infrastructure grant. This is the last remaining item from this grant to complete the entire project.

The purpose of this report is to obtain Council approval to award the construction of the lift station.

Commentary

Staff anticipate that the tender documents for the West Shore Parkway sewer lift station will be ready late June/July. Staff intend to post the project to BC Bid in a fair and transparent tendering process pursuant to the City’s Purchasing Policy.

Staff are suggesting that Council allow award of the West Shore Parkway Sewer Lift Station Construction to the lowest compliant bidder and to fund the project through the West Shore Parkway Infrastructure Grant.

Financial Implications

This project is funded through the New Building Canada Infrastructure grant for the West Shore Parkway completion project.

Legal Implications

None noted. The lift station will be constructed on City land.

Options

That Council:

  1. Award the construction of the West Shore Parkway Sewer Lift Station to the lowest compliant bidder, so long as the bid is within budget, and fund the project from the New Building Canada Infrastructure grant for the West Shore Parkway Completion project;
    OR
  2. Not award the construction of the West Shore Parkway Sewer Lift Station
