"In a championship game and big games like that, when there is a turnover ratio, turnover battle like that, almost 100 per cent of the time you lose the game."

He also pointed to a play early in the game that would have given the Rebels a touchdown but instead was a dropped ball.

"It just never seemed to get on track after that," Cardilicchia said.

"The rain was obviously a big factor and we couldn't get the ball outside to our receivers. We wanted to really try and stretch the field a little bit but yeah they [Nanaimo] played well, they came out here and they were an inspired group and at the end of the day, we made some mistakes that cost us a big game."

Cardilicchia said the 10 wins in a row meant nothing nor did the first place finish in the league.

"The only thing that mattered to us was a national championship," he said.

"This is a huge failure as far as I'm concerned."

Recruiting for next season has already begun.

Again in the second making it 14-0.

The Rebels gained a little momentum with a touchdown from Kaine Stevenson but the Raiders took a 18-7 lead just before the end of the first half with a field goal.

The Rebels struggled offensively with mother nature wreaking havoc all night with heavy rains and wind.

The Raiders continued to dominate and added a field goal with 1:29 left in the game to seal the 21-7 victory.

Cardilicchia said after the game the amount of turnovers the Rebels committed on the night was a big part of the loss.

"I think the turnover ratio is what killed us," he said.

City of Langford notice repeated (see Public Hearing notice above).

### Rebels boss thanks team (continued)
The rookie head coach said while the award is a great honour for him, there were many pieces to the puzzle that helped him earn the recognition.

"It motivates me. Success is something that makes me hungry for more success. I want to really give some kudos to my coaching staff," Cardilicchia said. "My executives and of course my team, we've done a great job. The boys have played really hard for me this year and we've really grown together. I think if anything, it will bring us together a little bit."

### Tourney good for player development, says coach

Newhook has committed to Boston College while Alexander has committed to the University of Denver for their college careers.

For the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, both players will be away from the Grizzlies for two weeks while the tournament takes place.

Head coach Craig Didmon said the two will be missed but he and the rest of the team are thrilled for them.

"They will be missed in the lineup for sure," he said. "However, I know the rest of the players are happy for their success and wish them the best of luck. Both players work extremely hard and show great maturity for their age. They both deserve this opportunity."

Didmon added that Hockey Canada is a great chance for Newhook and Alexander to come back with new perspectives and skills.

"I think it will be great for their development. Hockey Canada has so much to offer these players with this opportunity," he said.

"I expect both players to come back having gained knowledge and experience and be an even better player."
