Hi Matthew,
I see that the notice of public hearing for 2762/2768 Claude Road is scheduled for May 15.
Can my previous email comments be submitted to council prior to the meeting? (given that I have Parkinson's decease and I cannot speak very clearly) I plan to attend the meeting.
I look forward to your reply.
Thank you.

The municipal tax rate is the same for both, and the relative amount of taxation that the City receives from each is dependent on the assessed value, which is set by the BC Assessment Authority.

condominiums, I'm confident that developers would build more units of this type. At the present time the rental vacancy rate is at an all-time low, and the there is demand for rental apartments. Lending institutions and banks are willing to lend money for the development of apartments, and developers are able to build these units at a profit. This is what is driving the development of rental v. strata ownership buildings. .

I trust that this answers your question satisfactorily.

Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me here.

Sincerely,

>> I am writing you today because I have been reading articles in the Gazette about Claude Road. I have Parkinson's decease and my speech is not that clear so I would like this email to be registered as part of the hearing.
>> I am very concerned about the height of 10 storeys let alone an application for 11 storeys, for Claude Road. I live on Peatt Road and since I moved here 3 1/2 years ago, I have noticed so much more traffic now coming and going into Langford every day. When will the high rises stop??? It appears that the city of Langford is interested in all the high rise apartment buildings that have gone up and those that are still under construction. All of which are within meters of each other. (Hockley avenue and Peatt Road) There are so many high rise buildings that are all for rental, and little or none in the works for strata, owner occupied in the downtown core. With the limited road access in and out of Langford, I think it would be more beneficial to have more owner occupied buildings as opposed to rentals. What does the city of Langford gain in annual property taxes from apartment buildings as opposed to strata owner occupied buildings? I also think that with the high number of recently built apartments and the ones under construction, that the city is not doing enough to provide owner occupied units. Affordable owner occupied units would be best. I don't think the city of Langford should be amending their by-laws to approve anything higher than 6 storeys for new construction.
