## Staff Report to Council

### Date
February 6, 2017

### Department
Administration

### Subject
Bear Mountain / Skirt Mountain Water Servicing

### Background
As Council is aware, staff have been working cooperatively with Southpoint, Bear Mountain and the CRD to ensure water services are provided to these developments as soon as possible. The CRD Water has been very helpful in working with the City and developers to this end. To provide clarity to the CRD Water that the City sees this water project as a priority, staff are recommending that Council pass the following resolution.

### Staff Recommendation (verbatim)
“That Staff be directed to advise the CRD that of the CRD Water DCC projects included within the City of Langford, water servicing up the Bear Mountain Parkway, which includes the McCallum Road Pump station, as well as the reservoir and pump station at the 228M mark of the Parkway is the highest priority water project for the City and that the City strongly encourages the CRD to build the McCallum Road pump station as soon as CRD water DCC funds are available.”

### Options
That Council:

1. Pass the above noted resolution and advise the CRD; OR
2. Not provide the CRD with our water project priorities at this time.

Please accept the heartfelt thanks of the Goldstream Food Bank Society for your generous donation in the amount of $477.12 raised through your Langford light up.

In 2016, the food bank provided 3,708 hampers to 9,309 people in the Western Communities. Included in that total are 2,874 children under the age of 17 years. The hampers we provide are nutritionally compliant and are tailored to the size and nature of each family. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and is key to the continued provision of this support.

The number of people who need our services fluctuates each month, and our numbers for 2016 were a little higher than in 2015. There has been a gradual increase in the number of new people in need of our food bank services. Thank you again.

Sincerely yours,

Sandy Prette

Secretary
