### Letter

Dear Mayor Young:

To quote the African proverb, "it takes a village to raise a child" - the same is true for building the successful program that saw Canada's Women's Sevens Rugby team's dreams come true in Rio.

The world watched on August 8th as Canada won the Bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics; the culmination of a long journey that started back in 2009 when it was announced that rugby sevens would be included in this year's Games. This momentous achievement would not have been possible without visionaries and supporters who believed we had what it takes to reach this level of competition as well as the athletes who dedicated themselves to the sport and represented our country on the world stage.

Your and the City of Langford's ongoing support of our Sevens program was an integral part of our team's success. The foundation of the program dictates it's strength and we're fortunate to have a strong base of supporters to continue building on this success. Not only do we have the prestige of having an Olympic medal winning team, we've seen a significant increase in the interest and awareness of rugby. This is something that will have a long lasting and profound effect on the future of rugby in Canada.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, we'd like to thank you for your ongoing commitment to Rugby Canada which allows us to continue achieving this dream.

Sincerely,

Sincerely,

Allen Vansen
Chief Executive Officer

Tim Powers
Chairman
