Commentary

An offer to purchase the subject lands has been entered into, and it has been agreed that in addition to the purchase price ($444,800), approximately 2,564m² (27,000 ft²) will also be part of the purchase price that the City will receive from the purchaser.

As necessary for a road closure process, staff advertised the proposal in a local newspaper for two consecutive weeks prior to this Council meeting. Following these ads, and at the time of writing this report, staff have not received opposition to the proposed road closure and disposition. However, there may be members of public who wish to speak to this proposal at the public meeting on August 15, 2016.

As part of this sale, there are a number of issues the purchaser is required to complete, which at this time have not been completed. Council may wish to direct staff to withhold the sale and transfer until the outstanding issues have been addressed to the satisfaction of the Chief Administrative Officer.
