Subject:

Bylaw No. 1654 – A Bylaw to Amend the Procedure Bylaw No. 819, 2004 - Change Start Time of Council Meetings

Background

Over the summer months Council has changed the start time of Council meetings from 7:00pm to 5:00pm. This time has worked well and staff and members of Council feel there is merit to change the start time of the Council meeting on a permanent basis.

In order to accommodate the public, if Council were to change the start time of its Council meetings, staff suggest that it be set at 5:30 pm in order to provide the working public the time to make it home from work and attend the meeting. The Procedure Bylaw amendment to formally change the time of the meetings is on the agenda for first three readings.

Options

  1. That Council give first three readings to Bylaw No. 1654; OR

  2. Keep the current meeting schedule.
